Later, Creston noticed Lis picked at her meal. He wasn’t surprised when she asked, “What’s going to happen today?”

“I spoke with my father earlier. I called to let him know we would be coming to the palace as our first stop and then tomorrow we can travel to meet your father.”

“Oh, okay,” she said and then pushed her eggs on top of the veggies on her plate. He rang for the attendant to take their plates away. Once they were alone again, he turned to Lis.

“Elisha, tell me what you want. I thought it might give you time to adjust to being in a strange country. But if you want to go straight to Valdoria, we can do that. Your father is very anxious to meet you.”

She nodded her understanding, “I hadn’t really thought about it. I suppose that is a good idea. Have you told him, my father, about me?”

He grinned, trying to lighten the mood. “What? That you are an incredible woman that he will be proud to call his daughter?”

She chuckled and that had been his intent. “You know what I mean.”

Creston explained, “I told my father who I am sure told my mother. But only because I wanted to make meeting them easier. That stress is now gone, I hope.”

“I suppose it is. What about my father. Does he know?” she asked.

With a shrug, Creston said, “I don’t know. I haven’t told him. I didn’t feel as if it was my place. Had your mother wanted him to know prior to meeting you, she would have included it in her letter.”

Lis was quiet for a moment before she said, “Maybe you should call him today and prepare him.”

He shook his head. “No. I’m not going to do that, because he doesn’t need to be prepared to love his own daughter.”

Lis looked far from convinced. “You make everything seem so easy in your world.”

He caressed her cheek. “Not everything. There will be times when being part of the royal family will be trying and difficult, but in this instance, I can assure you, it will be easy.”
